As a crucial part of the Downtown Masterplan, City of Brevard staff have actively sought funding opportunities for Times Arcade Alley drainage improvements. On August 3, the City received news that it had been awarded $250,000 by Golden LEAF (Long-Term Economic Advancement Foundation) for the installation of new stormwater infrastructure intended to mitigate flooding that occurs downtown at Times Arcade Alley.
Engineering plans for the project are being drawn up, and the project will be put out to bid early this fall. Though the total cost of the project is not yet known, funds from Golden LEAF, coupled with a $700,00 grant from NC Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and $132,000 in local funds, should provide the funding necessary to complete the project.
