[ARCHIVED] City Camper Update

City Camper sign on the Broad St project site

City Camper update: Mayor Maureen Copelof met with City Camper Vice President Alan O’Neal to get an update on the status of the project for the community. While construction crews have completed most of the hotel’s underground stormwater infrastructure and related utility work, additional construction has paused while the developers reevaluate their design to account for increased building costs. Mr. O’Neal reaffirmed City Camper’s commitment to building the hotel. According to the conditional zoning district requirements and deed restrictions approved by City Council in June 2021, they are required to build a boutique hotel on this site by 2027.

Mr. O’Neal was not able, at this point, to give a firm restart date for construction but agreed that if the project is postponed beyond September they will rebuild the sidewalk adjacent to the property.

It is worth noting that, while the City has a development agreement with City Camper that requires a hotel be built on the site, the project is privately owned and managed; inquiries concerning project updates are best forwarded to the City Camper team.
