BREVARD CITY COUNCIL TO HOLD STRATEGIC PLANNING SESSION MARCH 1-2, 2023 AT MARY C JENKINS COMMUNITY AND CULTURAL CENTER
[BREVARD, N.C. January 20, 2023] – At its last official meeting, the Brevard City Council amended its public meeting schedule to add its annual Strategic Planning Retreat. The retreat will take place on the evenings of March 1 and March 2 from 5:30-9:30 at the Mary C Jenkins Community and Cultural Center.
“Strategic planning retreats are important for public bodies because they ensure that all the elected officials are singing from the same sheet of music in the year to come,” said City Manager Wilson Hooper. “They also help inform appointed staff as to which municipal functions should be better endowed in the FY24 budget that’s currently under construction.”
The retreat will again be facilitated by Dr. John Stephens of the UNC School of Government. Dr. Stephens is an associate professor of public administration and government, and has a background in mediation, dispute resolution, and citizen outreach. He is the former chair of the Steering Committee for the University Network for Collaborative Governance.
The meeting is open to the public but there will be no opportunity for public comment.
