What is the Community Cleanup? This event is meant to bring together individuals from our Community who have a passion to help serve others. We gather to assist elderly, disabled, or neighbors who otherwise need assistance in cleaning the outside of their homes. This year's plan includes cleanup at homes, cemeteries, and several local non-profit organizations used by many residents of our county.
Volunteers will meet at The Brevard Police Department, 114 West Jordan Street, at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 30th to receive a safety briefing, food, and assignments. After signing waivers, volunteers will be assigned to teams and locations for the cleanup. Transportation will be provided if it is necessary. A dumpster will be provided at a convenient location for the event. We will complete the cleanup by noon and give volunteers the rest of the day to enjoy their successful effort.
Volunteers are asked to bring yard tools such as rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, bush trimmers and clippers, and similar tools. Volunteers are also asked to bring hats, gloves, long pants and long sleeve clothing for protection against scratches from limbs and bushes, sunscreen, and insect repellent. Water and snacks will be provided throughout the event.
If you would like to participate, please call the Brevard Police Department (828-883-2212) to sign up by Wednesday, March 27th. This is a great way to serve and meet other wonderful people!
This event is sponsored by the The City of Brevard, North Carolina, and co-sponsored by Brevard High School National Honor Society, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Brevard NC, Destiny Christian Fellowship, Unitarian Universalists of Transylvania County, and Bethel "A" Baptist Church!
