Terry Scruggs spent 17 years with the City of Brevard as the Finance Director. Before that time, he was Vice President of Brevard Federal Savings and Loan. Terry was known for his positive customer relationships built on professionalism and servant leadership. Terry was also an active member in Glady Branch Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Betty, daughter Karyn Scruggs Roth and husband Chip Roth of Raleigh, North Carolina, and son Jeff T. Scruggs. Terry took great joy in spending time with his grandchildren, Emma Claire Roth, Kathryn Blake Roth, and Jaxson Wyatt Scruggs.
The Scholarship
The Terrell L. Scruggs Scholarship will be given to senior students selected from any of the three Transylvania County high schools to assist with college expenses. These students will be selected by board members of the Terrell L. Scruggs Scholarship Committee based on character, academic achievements, extracurricular participation, volunteer work, commitment, community involvement, and references. The application is reasonable in length and available to any and all seniors seeking assistance in funding higher education.

Your Donation
Your donation to the Terrell L. Scruggs Scholarship Fund will assist students of Transylvania County schools who wish to pursue further education. The money that you donate will be used for the sole purpose of funding a scholarship program. No monies will be used to purchase marketing, fundraising, or other such materials. Your generous donations are tax deductible and the city will provide the necessary tax deduction information to you shortly following your donation contribution.
