Projects

The division takes care of two parks, treatment plants, pump stations, the reservoir, police firing range, two playgrounds, the Driver Training Course, the sports complex, and roadside projects throughout the city limits and the downtown area. Maintenance includes mowing, weed-eating, mulching, pruning, fertilizing, leaf removal, application of pesticides, and plantings of annuals and perennials.

Maintenance

Building maintenance includes painting, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, structural repairs, upgrading and remodeling. The following buildings are a part of that maintenance:

  • City Hall
  • Public Works
  • French Broad Community Center
  • Franklin Pool
  • Scout Hut

Recreational facilities are maintained during seasonal activities. Housekeeping of public buildings is also a priority. The division also maintains heavy traffic areas during public events and decorates the city for seasonal and special events. The Building & Grounds Division staff take great pride in their work for the City and are always striving to improve.
